At the Summit of the seven Mediterranean countries of the European Union (EUMed) held in Athens in September 2016, the Prime Minister of Greece and his European counterparts spoke and listened, each in their native language. To make this happen, ELIT Language Services organised a group of 12 interpreters, from Greece and abroad, who covered the interpretation requirements into and from six languages: Portuguese, Spanish, Greek, Italian, French, and English.
ELIT Language Services was responsible for the provision of interpreting services at the summit of southern European leaders, at the working lunch and at the Press Conference held at Zappeion Megaron. Our team consisted of interpreters with extensive experience in high-level conferences, accredited to the interpretation services of the EU and members of the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC).
ELIT Language Services was responsible for all organisational aspects of the interpreting, providing support staff at Zappeion Conference Center and arranging the transportation and accommodation of interpreters who travelled from abroad for the needs of this Summit.
With the assistance of the interpreters, the leaders of the EU Mediterranean countries signed the Athens Declaration on 9 September 2016.
