ELIT Language Services was present at the annual General Meeting of Calliope Interpreters, the worldwide network of AIIC consultant interpreters, which was held on 11 January in Oxford.
ELIT was represented by Haris Ghinos, ELIT’s chief interpreter and exclusive member of Calliope Interpreters for Greece, Serbia, Turkey, Malta and other countries in the South-eastern Mediterranean.
The annual General Meeting of Calliope Interpreters is an opportunity for some of the most experienced consultant conference interpreters in the world to come together, exchange experiences and discuss best practices that shape developments in the field of conference interpreting.
ELIT Language Services was also present at the meeting of the PRIMS committee of AIIC, the International Association of Conference Interpreters, which was held on 12 and 13 January in London.
Approximately 180 AIIC members met for two days in London to discuss, among other things, the dynamic entrance of remote (or distance) interpreting at conferences and international meetings. On the second day of the meeting, AIIC members actively participated in a series of simulations of remote interpreting with the support of technology companies.
Calliope Interpreters is the worldwide network of AIIC Consultant Interpreters. AIIC is the sole international association of conference interpreters in the world, the guardian of quality in conference interpreting since 1953, and the recognised interlocutor of international organisations.
